Zomato successfully tested drone to deliver food
What if Zomato an online ordering and food delivering platform dropped your food package in just 10 minutes but if you are lying in five-kilometers areas of that particular restaurants and Cafes. Well, the days are not late as Zomato has successfully tested its maiden drone delivery technology using a hybrid drone that covered a distance if five km in just 10 minutes with the speed of 80kmph.
According to the Zomato, the drone was tested last week at one of the remote areas which was approved by the DGCA. The test was conducted at remote sites which are specially designed to conduct. While talking to the IANS, the Zomato doesn’t mention the area name where they tested successfully.
According to the notification issued by Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on May 13, interested companies have been asked to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the DGCA for conducting experimental Beyond Visual Line of Sight operations (BVLOS) of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS)/Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
Meanwhile, Deepinder Goyal, Founder and CEO, Zomato, said that- “We are working towards building sustainable and safe delivery technology and with our first successful test while delivering food by drones which is next thing in our pipeline”.
Further, Zomato has acquired TechEagle, which is a Lucknow based drone startup, for solving the issues regarding pollution and handling the traffic.
