IRCTC’s first private train Tejas Express, to be on tracks from this date
The first-ever private project of IRCTC’s (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation) Tejas Express is all set to hit the railway tracks on October 4, 2019. This is also India’s first private train that will be operated, run and managed by the IRCTC.
The first Tejas Express will be introduced between Delhi and Lucknow on October 4. Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express will ply on all six days of the week except Tuesday. The train will be featured like airline facilities and convenience to make it a memorable experience for the passengers.
It is believed that IRCTC might give operation controls of Tejas Express to private players after the first few runs and services. The tickets for the trains can be booked 15 days prior to the journey,as per report available from sources.
So far as ticket prices are concerned, a dynamic fare model might be applied for the Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express. The executive class passengers will get lounge facilities at the stations, for which they’ll have to pay marginal fees. The lounges at the stations will be well-equipped with all the modern conveniences like airports. In addition to this, passengers can also organise business meetings inside the lounge.
Tejas Express will have a train driver, guard and RPF (Railway Protection Force), which will be provided by the Indian Railways. The ticketing staff, housekeeping and catering inside the train, will be under control of IRCTC.
It is expected that IRCTC will invite tenders soon for private firms to take over the services of Tejas Express.
