Spend the night among wild animals in this national park of Kerala
Periyar National Park in Kerala is one of the most beautiful national parks in Southern India. It is included in the tourist destinations of Kerala, which are quite popular among tourists. This national park has a permit for night trekking, which makes it even more popular among tourists. If you too are a nature lover and want to feel the thrill of spending the night in the jungle, then you must come once.
This national park is a tiger protected area. However, since 1998, elephant conservation has also been brought under the project.
In this park you can see some very rare animals, due to which your journey can become memorable. You can see herds of elephants here very easily, but you may have to be very patient to see the tiger.
Along with tigers and elephants, you will also see gaur, sambar, barking deer, mouse deer, wild boar and Indian wild dog. Apart from animals, this reserve has a large variety of flora and fauna.
In Periyar National Park, tourists are allowed to do night trekking for about three hours. Tourists can start their trekking anytime between 7 pm and 4 am.
If you are going for trekking as well, you have to be mentally strong, because you have to stay in the forest for hours and go to the areas of reserve for tigers. However, there will be trained tribal guards with you during trekking.
HOW TO REACH
Cochin International Airport is the nearest to Periyar National Park. On arrival by train, you have to get down to Aluva railway station.
