Spent a night in the forests of Katarniaghat

Situated in District Bahrich of Uttar Pradesh close to Indo Nepal border this Wildlife Sanctuary is a very peaceful place and not visited by many tourists. Away from madding crowd and a place where you can breath fresh air wander in the forest and come across with wildlife Rich in Ghariyal/crocodile and tiger population as well.

tigerKatarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary is home to king animal, it’s a tiger reserve. Many other animals and birds are here in its natural habitats. Gairwa river which flows in the sanctuary area is a sanctuary for Mugger and Gharials. An experiencing, the Greenwoods, the pleasant breeze ruffling the leaves of the trees, chirping of birds, grounds covered by fallen leaves, anthills and magic of natural beauty is something to look up for.

Katarniaghat wildlife Sanctuary runs mainly on Solar power the suites are air conditioned and comfortable. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available here. Rides in open SUVs for the wildlife, boating are added attractions. Camps and trees houses are really amazing. A great place for weekends with family and friends.

Nearest airport: Amausi, Lucknow 215 km.

By Train

The railway station in the sanctuary are at Kakraha , Murtiha, Nishangarah and Bichhia, They are located on the Gonda-Bahraich Branch railway line ( meter gauge) of NER. Katerniaghat can be approached from Gonda also , Which is situated on the main railway line from Lucknow to Gorakhpur.

By Road

The sanctuary is located at a distance of 205 km from Lucknow, 60 km from Bahraich – Nanpara route and about 7 km from the Nepal boarder. The best way to go Katerniaghat is by road from Lucknow .the first range of katerniaghat WLS – Motipur is around 205 km from Lucknow via the cities of Sitapur and Lucknow. From Lakhimpur, one has to take the “Assam Road” towards Beharaich till Mihinprwa, where a forest department barrier welcomes one to Katerniaghat.
