Lalu’s Kulhad to be reintroduced in Railway Stations !!

There is something magical about the connection between winters and Tea. What makes it even better is to have that chai in a kulhad (earthen cup).

Nowadays Indian government is planning to change or try new things in the Railway industry, as today they announced to bring back the kulhad wali chai which was once easily available on the platform.

Fifteen years ago, the government boycotted Kulhads over utilitarian plastic and paper cups that are now used at railway stations. Erstwhile Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav had introduced kulhads at railway stations across the country.

Piyush Goyal railway minister has instructed caters at Varanasi and Rae Bareli stations to use terracotta-made ‘kulhads’, according to the circular issued by the board to the chief commercial managers of Northern Railway and North Eastern Railway.

Well, as per officials- this move will not only give the passenger a refreshing movement but also provide a huge market for local potters.

We have to thanks the chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) as they had written a letter to Goyal (minister), suggesting that these two stations be used to generate employment.

Meanwhile, in 2004 when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the railway minister, introduces the kulhads to boost dying pottery industry.
